Predict-X 2020

In collaboration with MindSpark’21, the club organized Predict-X 2020, a stellar data sciences hackathon. This hackathon was conducted online and was led by Shaunak Halbe and Siddhant Kandge, who are the research lead and administrative lead respectively.

DSAI Live Sessions

As part of the induction process, the club conducted live hands-on sessions on domains such as Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. These sessions were made open to all interested students and concepts were covered right from the basics to ensure that everyone found these sessions beneficial. The first session was an Introduction to Computer Vision with Image Classification and this session was conducted by Shaunak Halbe, who is serving as the research lead of DSAI. The second session was an Introduction to Natural Language Processing with Spam Classification and this session was conducted by Jinit Sanghvi, who is serving as the head and secretary of DSAI.

NASA SpaceApps Hackathon

Club Members participated in the global hackathon organized by NASA by forming club teams and worked on interesting problem statements such as “Automated Detection of Natural Hazards”. Teams involved worked on these tasks over a period of two days and produced interesting results and models to tackle the issue.

Session on Classical Computer Vision by Shaunak Joshi

The Club organized a session on classical computer vision which was conducted by Shaunak Joshi, a Software R&D engineer at Axogyan AI and an AI researcher who has worked with institutions such as Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Seoul and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The session was covered over 2 days with equal importance associated to theory and implementation. The session was made open to all interested students.

Research Paper Discussion

To emulate a better research culture within the college, the club has been conducting discussion sessions where groups present and explain a research paper followed by a discussion on the ideas presented. These research papers cover domains such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing,etc.

DSAI club in association with the Department of Computer and Information technology is organizing an Expert Talk on Research Directions in Machine Learning and AI by Prof. Amit Awekar. Prof. Amit Awekar is currently working as Assistant Professor in CSE department at IIT Guwahati. He has completed his masters from IIT Kanpur and PhD from North Carolina State University.
